Your child has one intuitive aim: self development
Catherine’s area of expertise lies in languages. She completed her schooling in Northern Ireland with A levels in English Literature, French, and Spanish, and further pursued a degree specializing in foreign languages, specifically French and Spanish. Equipped with a qualification for teaching English as a foreign language, she ventured to Europe, where she spent many years immersing herself in the culture and language, becoming fluent in Italian. During this time, she gained extensive experience teaching languages to both adults and young learners, finding it to be a rewarding and enjoyable endeavour.
Upon returning to Northern Ireland, Catherine decided to explore a new path and joined Methodist College in 2018 to temporarily cover for a classroom assistant who had abruptly left their position. However, she found herself remaining at the college, where she currently enjoys being on the other side of the classroom, providing support to pupils with special educational needs. This experience has enriched her on various levels, allowing her to understand the specific challenges some children face in school and learn effective ways of addressing them. It has also familiarized her with the post-primary curriculum, exposed her to the ups and downs of preparing for GCSEs, and heightened her awareness of issues such as exam pressure and anxiety that all students may encounter.
In addition to her work at Methodist College, Catherine offers tutoring services in French, Spanish, English literature or language, and for those seeking adventure, Italian.
